The day the clocks went forward, summer is here at last. The clock change caused Julie to join us and Frank to miss us. Set your clock earlier or one less drink the night before Frank.
Setting off it was good to see some old faces or was it as I seem to see an old face everytime I look in the mirror. First things first, compulsory mistake, missed the path up to Derwent dam, but realised the mistake in time to reverse our steps. From then on all plain sailing. The path up to the top of Hagg side was not steep but long enough to cause some serious overheating by the time we reached the top.
Now we had only mountain bikers and some antisocial pond life in a land rover to look out for. The path to Crook Hill was grassy and soft under foot. There was a bit of yomping off the path and a scramble to make the summits but it was well worth it for the views and the sun came out for us as well. Was it Wigan's Ovation did lunch on a mountain top?
An easy descent on grassy paths brought us back to the dam and we returned on the east side to make the most of the sun. A pleasant drink outside the Ladybower Inn with good craik rounded off a near perfect walk.
